Process safety and physical risk assessment

Physical risk assessment of machinery, electrical systems, fire detection and egress, chemical storage and permit-to-work on manufacturing sites.

Who this is for

  • Plant heads at manufacturing sites
  • Warehouse and logistics operators
  • Companies responding to an insurer or customer request
  • Sites reviewing controls after an incident or near miss

How this fits our independence policy

This is assessment work. If we assess you against a standard, we will not also implement it for you. That keeps the result credible with buyers, assurers and certifiers.

Our independence policy

What we do

  1. Walk through hazardsA structured walk of every production and storage area.
  2. Review machine guardingEach machine checked for guarding, interlocks and emergency stops.
  3. Assess electrical and fire safetyPanels, earthing, fire detection, suppression and escape routes.
  4. Review chemical storageSegregation, containment, labelling and safety data sheets.
  5. Check permit-to-work and LOTOHow hazardous work is authorised and how energy is isolated.
  6. Report and prioritiseFindings ranked by risk with recommended controls.

What you receive

  • Risk-ranked findings with photographs
  • A machine-by-machine guarding register
  • Fire detection and egress findings
  • A chemical storage compliance list
  • Permit-to-work and LOTO observations
  • Prioritised recommendations using the hierarchy of controls

Standards and frameworks referenced

  • Applicable statutory safety requirements
  • Applicable fire codes
  • Recognised good engineering practice

This is an independent assessment. It does not replace statutory inspections or certification of equipment by competent persons.

Typical sequence

Every engagement is planned around your deadline. You receive a dated plan with the written scope.

Frequently asked questions

Does this replace a statutory inspection?

No. It shows where you stand and what to fix first. Statutory inspections and equipment certification still apply.

Will production need to stop?

No. The assessment is carried out during normal operations, with access to stopped equipment only where needed.

What does LOTO mean?

Lockout-tagout: the procedure that isolates machines from energy before maintenance so they cannot start unexpectedly.

Do you help fix the findings?

If we assessed the site, your team or another party implements the fixes so that a later assessment stays independent.
